Flood Insurance – Protection You May Need!

By January 26, 2018June 22nd, 2023No Comments

Floods are the most common natural disaster in the United States.

Floods occur anywhere, even in places thought to be low-risk. In fact, a quarter of all claims paid by the National Flood Insurance Program are on policies in communities considered to be minimal-risk locations. New housing developments are especially susceptible, particularly if natural runoff paths have been diverted or trees have been leveled to make room for houses.

Unfortunately, your homeowner’s insurance policy won’t cover flood damage to your home or property. Only flood insurance will cover losses in the event of a flood.

To help you protect your residence or commercial building, Erie Insurance has partnered with American Bankers to offer flood insurance. American Bankers consistently receives excellent ratings for financial strength from A.M. Best credit rating organization.

Flood insurance for your home or business is also available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program.

If you do purchase flood insurance, study your policy thoroughly so there will be no surprises. Flood insurance policies have at least a 30-day waiting period before they take effect. Start the process now — before the waters start to rise.
